Outlets emphasize that Drury "pretended to be dead" after being shot and feature extensive coverage of individual victims' stories, including the 5-year-old's "Halloween plans" and the 7-year-old "wheelchair-bound" girl who "fought for her life." One article highlights a mother who previously survived a school shooting coaching her son to "be as quiet as possible."
