We do not sell your information.

A site about who is telling you what should be straight with you about its own end of the deal. So here is the whole of it, in plain language: what Unbiased keeps, what it refuses to do with it, and who else touches it.

Four things we do not do

  • We do not sell your information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. There is no arrangement under which money changes hands for anything you have given us.
  • We do not share it for advertising.Unbiased carries no ads and no ad network. Nothing you read here follows you to another site, because nothing about your reading leaves this one.
  • We do not track you across the web. There are no third-party analytics, no tracking pixels, no fingerprinting scripts, and no social widgets phoning home. View the source if you would rather check than take our word.
  • We do not build a profile on you. What you save and which topics you follow shape your own feed and are used for nothing else. We do not infer your politics from what you read, and we do not want to.

Reading takes no account at all

The feed, the stories, the bias ratings and the side-by-side view are public. You can read all of it without signing in, and if you never sign in there is nothing to attach to you — no account, no history, no profile. An account exists only so that favorites and topic preferences have somewhere to live.

Two small things are stored in your own browser rather than by us: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and your reading-size choice. Neither is used to identify you, and neither leaves your machine except to prove to us that you are you.

What an account holds

  • Your email addressIt is how you sign in and how we reach you about your own account. Your password is stored hashed, by the service that handles sign-in, and we never see it.
  • A name and picture, if you add oneBoth are optional and both are yours to remove at any time. Avatars sit in a private bucket and are handed out as short-lived signed links rather than left open on the internet.
  • The stories you favoriteA row saying you saved a story, so the heart in the header has something to show you.
  • The topics you follow or hideYour preferences, applied to your feed on our side rather than yours.
  • Billing, if you ever pay usOur payment processor handles the transaction and keeps the card. We hold a customer reference and your plan status — never a card number.
  • A waiting-list email, if you asked for oneIt buys you one message when we launch, and an unsubscribe link in every mail we send. Signups are rate-limited using a salted, one-way hash of your IP address; the address itself is never stored.

Where it goes

Like anyone, we run on infrastructure we do not own, and a handful of outside services handle the parts we do not build ourselves — hosting, the database, payments. Each one processes only what we send it, on our instructions and for us alone. That is a service provider, not a sale, and none of them is permitted to use your information for anything of their own. We do not publish the list of who they are; ask and we will tell you.

Our servers keep ordinary request logs — IP address, page, timestamp — for a short time, for security and debugging. They are never joined to your account or used to build a reading history.

The summaries and the coverage matching are done by AI. What gets sent is published article text from news outlets — never your account, your favorites, or anything about you — and nothing you do here is used to train a model.

The only other way your information moves is one you trigger yourself: emailing a story to someone sends it to the address you typed, and clicking through to an article hands you off to that publisher’s site, where their rules apply and ours stop.

What you can do about it

Everything on this list is on your profile page and takes one click. No email to support, no waiting on us.

Change your email or name, or remove your picture. Unfavorite anything you saved. Reset your topics. Unsubscribe from the waiting list from the bottom of any mail we send.

Ask for a copy, or ask us to delete the whole account. Write to hi@hiunbiased.app and we will do it. Deleting means deleting — the account, the favorites, the preferences, the picture — not flagging a row as inactive and keeping it. Backups roll off on their own within thirty days.

Children

Unbiased is not built for children and we do not knowingly create accounts for anyone under 13. If one exists, tell us and it goes.

If this changes

We will say so here, and change the date at the bottom. If a change means we start doing something this page currently says we do not, you will get an email about it before it takes effect — not a quietly edited paragraph.
